The products, chosen in fifteen blind tastings.
A total of 137 products from 83 different companies will bear the Girona Excel·lent seal in 2025 and 2026. This distinction was designed to promote and showcase Girona’s agri-food products on a national and international level, to foster their development. Therefore, inclusion in the catalogue is not permanent since, instead, products have to earn it year after year, through research and innovation. For this reason, since the first edition, in 2014-2015, all products have been selected through blind tastings conducted by specialists. Out of the products appearing on the list, those with the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Poma de Girona and those with the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Fesols de Santa Pau have been included since the second edition.
The other products were chosen during the month of May 2025 in blind tastings within the fifteen families of selected products: mineral waters, rice, preserves and semi-preserves, ready meals, cold cuts, dried fruit, foie gras, biscuits, dairy products, olive oil, honey, coffees and medicinal herbs, beers, wines, fortified wines and liqueurs. The tastings were held at the FoodLab in Riudellots de la Selva with six-member juries.
